LOOKING INWARDS - ANAMBRA STATE AS CASE STUDY

After the Governor of Anambra state His Excellency, Chief Willie Obiano rendered an impressive Account of Stewardship to Anambra communities in Abuja and other parts of the North on July 22nd 2016, there have been claims and counter claims of tales of lies.
"Against the backdrop of the above window of opportunity brought to the table by ABX World, The Anambra state government, under the deeply visionary leadership of his excellency governor Willie Obiano, braved all odds and took the lead, in what looked then like an uncharted course,  by partnering with our company for massive agro-allied export production, the contract of which the state government  signed with the buying markets overseas over a year ago. And so far the total vegetable export proceeds of about $5million has been raked in the recent couple of months by the state government. Also, Interestingly, it is worthy of note to mention that Anambra state at the peak of her export production in the nearest future, on the platform of this export contract, shall be earning in export proceeds an average of $5.2 billion per year and this is real and practicable as the template for the production is already on ground, the state government is committed just as the  foreign buyers are eagerly waiting." (http://www.abxworld.com/events/p-naaes/).

I think we should look at this critically and ask all our Governors how they have been able to generate revenue for our states. The government remains the biggest employer of labour directly and/or indirectly via PPP (Public Private Partnership). If this is taken seriously, the economic recession will not affect prices of food that we can easily produce through government initiatives like this.

We can harness Greenhouse farming which is farming in a controlled environment. This can even be a starting point for the government as they have access to all land.

Let's build Nigeria together and not further destroy it.
